No this is not a post pertaining to to a movie starring Zac Efron or anything else he does (honestly, he creeps me out a little) but I love anything Matthew Perry does… Could he be any more hilarious!? (Any Chandler fans out there? Bueller?)
No instead, this is of an entirely different nature.
Last week, I worked from my parents house, and on my drive out from SF that morning, the radio stations were full of talk, talk, talk and no music. I wanted some tunes.
Enter iTrip. Enter Pandora NSYNC station. I had an inspiration and I just went with it.
This is what my running playlist has been missing!
When I was in high school I lived for boybands and pop music. (OK so maybe I still do.)
I saw the Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, NSYNC and 98 Degrees in concert more times than I care to admit. (It was more than 5, less than 15). 😉
I forgot what great running music songs like “Bye, Bye, Bye”, “The Call”, “Stronger”, “Crazy” (ahhh Britney in her glory days, I miss you) and “It’s Gonna Be Me” can be.
I ran both of my runs this weekend to that Pandora station, and was probably grinning cheek-to-cheek like the teenybopper I once was am.
They even threw some solo JT and Michael Jackson in for good measure.
And “He Loves You Not” by Dream. Anyone else remember Diddy’s first foray into putting a girl group together? I chose not to either until it started blasting in my ears.
I didn’t skip one song.
My music just got a much needed upgrade (not unlike the Situation’s latest pay-day to not wear Abercrombie and Fitch clothing) and I cannot wait for my next run!
What kind of music really gets you running?
Were you a boyband fan?
Definitely liked the boy bands in my teenage years…plus being a family friend of JC from NSYNC helps! My pump up music is the hard rock/rap though. The teenage glory days I like to listen to on my way to the beach with the windows down!
Amazing! How did you know him? My 17 year old self just died a little inside!

I started running to Nicole’s dubstep/house music and while that works + helps my brain zone out, I love running to Fall Out Boy, Kelly Clarkson, The Sounds, Jimmy Eat World, and Katy Perry (random mix? yup.)
And sorry to say it, but that equality sign is going in the wrong direction! I think you meant:
Backstreet Boys < NSYNC 🙂
I love running to fallout boy and panic at the disco too!
BSB fo life! 😉

Haha that’s so awesome. Now every time I see an overly cheerful runner I’m going to think they’re rockin out to backstreet boys.
I was never a country music fan but there are a couple of country songs that absolutely make my run for some reason.
I totally agree on the country songs but I’m a big fan of country too! 😉

Ohh I’ve never listened to that Pandora station but it sounds ah-mazing! I love those Pop songs when I’m working out! Plus isn’t it funny, how you still know all the words to them? (Or is that just me?) I think I’m actually going to plan a run just so I can do this!
Omg you must. I was sooo excited to see what song would be next! It’s the little things I swear.

I was definitely a boyband girl!! I was more of a Backstreet Boys fan than an nsync fan… but both are amazing of course. I never considered them for running music.. love the idea 🙂
I totally know what you mean about this boy bands! I love them and they do have tunes that keep you moving. Love it!
By the way, I love Chandler! Favorite character on Friends. Matthew Perry was also the bad boy in one of my favorite movies when I was a kid “She’s Out of Control.” Awesome.
I loooove Chandler!

You HAVE to try the MC Hammer Pandora station next. Yes it sounds completely random but it samples from MJ, Salt & Pepa, a little Good Vibrations in there? It is quite the gem. I found myself running longer because I was thinking..omg when will I hear this song again if not for right now?
Omg that’s next on my list!!

I love your confession to loving old school pop music! I listened to the exact same stuff back in the day and it still makes me super happy when I hear it! I was a HUGE NSYNC fan, but I saw them all in concert just like you did.
I like really upbeat and fast music (old school Blink, Green Day, Jimmy eat World) when during tempo runs and sprints. But on those long distance ‘slower’ runs, surprisingly slower, more mellow tunes help me along the way.
I totally agree. I needed the slower songs to help me pace yesterday! Hello 98 Degrees “the hardest thing”. Hello 8th grade.

I listen to really annoying music… like house, electronic, etc. I like it and it works for me, but would probably burn anyone else’s ears haha.
I had a major crush on Brian from BSB, he was so cute. And Aaron Carter was basically my DREAM MAN when I was 8. Now, not so much.
I was totally a Brian girl too!!

I love reliving my youth through music!!! 🙂 This post brought me back, waaayyy back. I could see myself loving this as playlist to run to! It will be on my to do list… now.
I felt 14 again when I heard “I want it that way” on the radio the other day! My fave BSB song of all time!!!! I love working out to old (and some new) Britney, but thanks for the reminder about NSYNC! They definitely had some great upbeat songs! I’ll definitely be checking out that station for my next workout 🙂
oooo i really liked nsync…byebyebye was my fave! as far as backstreep is concerned i was OBSESSED with ‘i want it that way’ i loved that song! obviously loved britney too…still do!
I just had a flashback to an intense argument I had in elementary school. BSB vs NSync… I’m pretty sure my friend and I didn’t speak for weeks after that. hahaha
Thank you for this post 🙂
hehee! I used to totally love that Dream song…..”He loves me, he loves you not!” hahaa!
I still remembered all the words!
